On Friday Dec. 10th representatives from Wachusett Mountain met up with members of the MBTA for a press event at North Station in Boston to officially announce the Commuter Rail service to the Mountain. The speaking program included remarks from MBTA General Manager Dan Grabauskas, WBCR General Manager James O'Leary, Wachusett's own Jeff Crowley, and Johnny Appleseed Trail President David McKeehan. Aslo asked to speak was State Representatives James Eldridge and Jennifer Flanagan. The attendance was fantastic for this announcement and included 3 different TV News Stations, as well as a TV crew from Emerson College. Magazine and Newspaper reporters also made it out.
The Press Conference was held on the landing between two trains. The train to the left of the speakers was the actual Ski Train that was open for attendees and the press to walk through. The train itself is a completely retro-fitted car that will accomodate about 50 passengers with special racks for both Skis and Snowboards.
At the conclusion of the event all the diginitaries and representatives from the MBTA and Wachusett Mountain ceremonily signed the side of the train. Check out some of the pictures below... |
